Outrageous Overbilling for Electrical Services
My Xcel Electricity billing for electrical service in January-February (1-15-2026 to 2-17-2026) quadrupled over the amount I was billed for December-January (12-15-2025 to 1-15-2026) service. I was away from home during the January-February billing period. With the exception of a couple of LED lights and the refrigerator all electrical appliances were disconnected. The washer, dryer, microwave, and electric stove were not used at all during this period, yet Xcel claims that I used FOUR TIMES more electricity in January-February than I used in December-January. Since no one was in my home during the January-February billing period it is physically impossible that I could have used that much electricity. PUC needs to audit Xcel Energy's fraudulent overcharging for electrical service. In researching various local social media, I have learned that THIS IS A VERY COMMON EXPERIENCE.
