Discrimination I received from casa tequila

I had one of the most upsetting and humiliating experiences of my life at Casa Tequila. I came in with my girlfriend for a dinner date. I’m a bilateral amputee and use a power wheelchair. As we entered, another man in a wheelchair struck up a short conversation with me—he was visibly distressed, sharing that he was scheduled for an amputation and just wanted to talk. I listened briefly, gave him words of encouragement, and made my way to the table where my girlfriend was already seated.

That’s when things took a disturbing turn.

A man who claimed to be the manager—and also claimed to be the owner, although clearly not—approached us and told us to take the conversation outside. I explained that it was already over and that I was just heading to my seat. Moments later, after we were seated and served chips and salsa, this same man returned and abruptly told us he was refusing us service—without explanation.

I repeatedly asked him for his name (at least five times), and he refused every time. I told him I was sober, not under the influence of anything, and simply wanted to enjoy a quiet meal. I asked why we were being refused service. No answer. No reason. Just a cold, silent dismissal.

I was left feeling completely shocked, hurt, and discriminated against. I’ve been living as an amputee for over three years and have never been treated this way. It felt like I was being judged and denied service simply for being in a wheelchair and speaking briefly to someone who was clearly struggling.

This experience was not just unprofessional—it was inhumane.
