Boulder County Power Reliability

Adding together the wind and snow outages to the increasingly common random outages with no particular cause or reason given (e.g. 2 outages yesterday), we are starting to feel like we don't live in the USA. These outages are an enormous interruption to life for thousands of my neighbors. Xcel seems to think that if they keep us updated with text after text, that somehow makes it ok that our power goes off so often. It doesn't. This is unacceptable, especially the days-long power safety shutoffs - it rules your life for days on end.

Power Outages during very very hot summer days.

Xcel in garfield county continues to have very long power outages ranging from 2hrs, to 6+ hrs. On 4 different occasions on this very hot summer of 2026, with weather of 90+ °F, there have been multiple power outages at times people need AC and cooling the most. Even with increasing power outages, electricity costs continue to increase, and i do not understand how ten years ago, with out the technology we have today, we had a lot less outages happening (especially such hot weather. ) It truly is a growing concern of mine and many within our community. 1 to 5 min outages last 3 weeks

I am logging a chronic power quality and grid reliability complaint for Kings Mill neighborhood in Westminster where an unresolved infrastructure problem has spanned the last three weeks. While out of town on June 29th, I received 5 to 6 separate automated outage notifications from Xcel Energy—a major disruption heavily discussed by neighbors on Nextdoor. Since returning, the issue has escalated despite a total lack of severe weather or high winds: I experienced a short outage yesterday afternoon, an overnight outage of unknown duration, and three separate momentary outages today alone, each lasting between 1 and 5 minutes.
