Power shut off put lives and family budgets at risk

Did anyone think of folks on oxygen? One I know was fresh back home from ICU, on oxygen and our neighborhood got zero notice in advance. Another dear friend is 97 yrs old, blind and on oxygen. She was terrified and freezing. Her son drained the hot water heater to try warming her. Frail and on her walker, she had to leave her home to find safety. Again no notice. Assign a compassion officer if need be, to inform future decision making and provide a registration for those at high risk households with newborns, dementia, oxygen, elevator access, etc. It's not "for safety purposes" if it puts lives at risk!

A public utility must not put citizens at risk with the flip of a switch in such an arbitrary manner. It's the decision-makers who failed us, not those out in trucks trying to fix it.

I would like to see the list of pre-planned shut-offs. Both Floyd Hill and Dumont near Georgetown, both notorious for high winds, had lights burning bright throughout the event.

It is often said the average family is $400 away from disaster. That's my estimate of the average family's lost food times 55,000. Rolling blackouts from area to area could lessen the financial impacts. This is in addition to the two 13-hour outages for Excel maintenance Aug 16-17 and Aug 29-31. It adds up for us all.

Six text updates continued extend to the time for power to be fixed. I packed snow in baggies to try to chill food, Had I known it would be updated as fixed 40 hours later, I could've gotten coolers and ice.

CORE formerly IREA services our area in Chief Hosa and buys energy from Excel. Power went out at 11:30pm sharp with no advance notice. Thank you for requesting feedback.
