Little Communication
We weren't part of the preemptive shutdown but did lose our power on Saturday night at 9 pm. I am on oxygen and "planned" for oxygen for one day and one night. We heard nothing on Sunday from Xcel when our power would be restored. Had to take measures to call my oxygen company to get some tanks delivered to me. They did. It was cold overnight on Sunday so the house was very cold! On Monday still did not hear anything from Xcel as to an estimated time of power restoration. I had to call the oxygen company AGAIN for delivery of oxygen only to be told I couldn't get any delivered until Tuesday. I did get oxygen delivered on Monday. Still no word from Xcel. Luckily we had not lost a lot of food and our daughter lent us their generator so we could at least keep power to the refrigerators and deep freezer to save our food. Still no word from Xcel on Tuesday. I stayed at a hotel room on Monday night (husband didn't want to leave the house) because the temperatures were to go into the 20's overnight. We are at-risk adults and I can't take the cold. Their website said power would be restored by 10 pm Tuesday night. The workers did come and we had power at 7 pm. We had power out in November and got texts quite frequently about the restoration of our power. What happened this time? They tell us to plan and I felt I did as much as I could under the circumstances but not having Any communication was terrible. It put me in danger with my oxygen and I went through a lot of unneeded stress! Some Communication would have really been nice!
