President Eagle Cliffs Merged Association

I am serving my 2nd term as President of our HOA. I had previously served for 5 years from 2012 to 2017. It's a tough job, but rewarding when you have a good community association management company, and you are assigned a professional manager who is knowledgeable and responsive. We have suffered in the past from a lack of this support, but now we have a company that meets our needs. We are a small community of 41 units (23 patio homes and 18 condos). I believe HOAs serve an important role in keeping a community looking good and feeling good. Yes, there is the occasional disgruntled owner who thinks the rules don't apply to them, and they can be difficult to deal with. The role of the community association manager plays a very important role in dealing with these situations. In our community, however, the majority of the owners really care about keeping up appearances to enhance our property values. That to me is the most important function of an HOA.

Erin2 you want to tell me that the developer of RL had no discussions with the board or the committee members that splitting his development would be detrimental to his business? I highly doubt he sat quietly to watch that happen. My sentiment stands that certain smaller neighborhoods get affected every time they redistrict and while they try to be loud, they have not been heard in the past when this has happened to them.

This is an emotional process but making up statements about developers that may have control over these scenarios is just silly.

Agree completely here too. I'm really worried for Middle School kids - its a hard age. I wish we could focus on keeping a little more stability in the established non-growing neighborhoods. If only there was a way we could focus on balancing where the growth is and how that will expand vs. updating the entire district. Our socio-economics are much more even now than in these scenarios, if they could help to organize where the growth goes vs. everyone it may be helpful. I think its why the north area has minimal comments vs the south!

I agree wholeheartedly. Our children were moved during the last redistricting in elementary (now to be moved right back to the original ES in all redrawings). Now, they will move to a different middle school if Green is voted in. We are in a small, old neighborhood and are told it has happened to this area in every single redistricting season. We don't have a major developer backing our neighborhood like Riss Lake, so we will likely be disrupted yet again.
