Energy bill doubled year on year due to alleged increased KW hour usage

My energy bill doubled year on year in January and February. Closer examination showed that the electricity usage in KW hours allegedly increased 50%. I contacted Xcel and they kept telling me the cost increase was TOU. I kept trying to tell the person I wasn't questioning the cost per KW hour but the alleged usage increase, but it fell on deaf ears. I believe the alleged increase in power usage occurred about the time they installed the new smart meter.

Yea my bill has been tripled with in the last month too. But that is because Colorado is Sanctuary state now , so we are being billed triple everything now including gas prices and groceries you name it even the Land taxes has been tripled or quadrupled.

Xcel's Outrageous Rate Increase

Greetings, received our Xcel Energy Bill this morning with a 48 percent increase from last month. We keep our thermostat at 66 degrees, and follow all of the latest energy conservation practices to keep our energy bills as low as possible.
