Who is accountable?
We lost power Saturday 3 PM and it did not return until after Noon on Monday. We were told NOTHING. We had NO warning NO explanation. I attempted to track our neighborhood on the Xcel Energy website and it said our power was not affected. I tried to register an outage and again received a bot message that our house was not affected! My doctor’s private medical practice with highly sensitive MRI (also in 80303 zip) must be cooled so had to reboot for 7 days to be functional again thereby costing thousands of dollars and wasted appointments for many medically ill in the county. My daughter-in-law had weeks worth of frozen breastmilk reserved for her infant spoiled- just thrown away and she was left with no reserves. I personally emptied two refrigerators and 2 freezers full of thousands of dollars of high-quality food into the garbage: tragic when families in our very county go hungry. Our house temp with no heat went down to near freezing. We feared the water lines breaking. Power lines on our street are buried. Why was our neighborhood shut down? Just down the street in one direction power was on and the other was off. Why? Who thinks they can predict the direction of the wind at any moment in time? Why did it take 3 days to reboot the system? Many many traffic lights were out- so dangerous! For what? We read the mea culpa letter in the Camera stating ‘over 550 employees’ of Xcel Energy were on the move ‘constantly checking lines’. We drove around the area and saw
No One working NOT ONE truck or crew. Where were they? Why is Xcel Energy waiting until a windstorm to check all the lines- shouldn’t that be done every single day? Was 550 the total number rotating all weekend into Monday or were they all out working getting overtime pay? Why are they so short staffed? Why aren’t they burying lines right this very moment? what are they waiting for? They can’t take profit reductions to do proper maintenance? How many fires need to happen? how many people need to lose their homes? how many lawsuits need to happen? It’s called maintenance. You don’t drive a car with no oil or gas in it just like you should not be using powerlines that haven’t been maintained. Why are there still treetops over arching lines all over the state? why are poles falling over? Who makes decisions that impact thousands and thousands of customers? They should lose their jobs, be held accountable. No other company could stay in business with this level of ongoing incompetence. The only reason they are still in business is because there’s no competition. Break up this monopoly! Create multiple small companies that compete for customers! Every family and business should be reimbursed for the pain and suffering and monies wasted. Every family and business.
