Understand the shut down precaution, but left other areas less safe

I live in an old neighborhood in the Littleton area and my power went out on Saturday, 4/6, approximately 9:00pm due to a tree falling on an electric line. This caused my line behind my house to arc shooting what looked like fireworks for over 2 hours with sparks flying every minute or so. This went on until an Xcel employee was able to come and turn off the transformer down my street which took 2 hours for someone to show up. Fortunately, I did not have a fire at my house. Eventually, Xcel came on Tuesday, April 9 to install a couple of new poles in the area and electricity was restored around 5:00pm after a 3 day outage. My electric lines were not replaced. We have lived in this home for 29 years and have experienced outages before, but nothing like this one and nothing that took 3 days to restore our power. I believe the shut down precaution may have taken workers from our area to focus on another area which could have created a disaster for us. Fortunately, it didn't. The infrastructure is also outdated as outages occur more often and for much longer periods of time.
