Thank You Xcel
I have lived in the mountains for over 60 years and the risk of wildfires is nothing new to me or the generation that preceeded me. My family has fought and survived many wildfires and we know how dangerous they can be. Xcel preemptively deenergized 55,000 customes and the storm caused 100,000 additional outages. This was a serious storm that Xcel took seriously. We had winds topping 96mph and many trees blown down or damaged by the wind. Losing power for us means not only no electricity but also no water or internet. We don't have cellular signal so our only communication is via landline phone service when the power goes out. We recieved both phone notification and email prior to the outage and we had plenty of time to prepare for the outage. We ran water into containers, packed the fridge with ice, made sure the backup power supply for our medical devices were charged and so on to be ready. These are all things that any responsible adult should be prepared to do. We also recieved updates at least 3 times via our landline and we could call their information line any time if we wanted. I was a little disappointed by how many days the outage lasted but with all the wind damage I completely understand. My father was a lineman for REA when he was young and I know how hard they work! THANK YOU! I would much rather live in the "dark ages for a few days than lose my home. At least all the people in town had water and cell service...we had nothing and liked it! Thank you Xcel for taking serious the safety of my family and home! My family nearby who have a newborn feel the same way!
Power On!
Thank you for your contribution!
