Power outage feedback

We were informed by a VM on Sat that our power would be shut off approx at 3 PM and it was. I didn’t listen to the first VM on Fri as assumed it was a junk call. Text would have been better. Then it was impossible to get updates as to when our power might return. For the first 24 hrs, I kept inputting our address on Excels website, but it would say no update available. Then some time on Sun when I checked, then it said that there was NO OUTAGE reported at our address! Why would we need to report it if Excel turned it off!! So then I tried to report the outage for our address on their website and every time I would check back, it would still say NO OUTAGE had been reported until after about the fifth time that I inputed it. My husband also called a few times. When he spoke with someone on Sat, they could not give any useful info as to when power would be restored. Other calls got only a recording with no useful info. It cost us $400 for spoiled food, one hotel night and meals out and spent one night in a 56 degree house. Usually power is restored within a few hours after an outage, so we had no idea that we would be without it for almost 48 hours! Had we known and been given updates, we probably could’ve saved more of our food than we were able to. —and I HATE wasting food! Imagine the total that was lost overall due to this!!! . Very frustrating and very inept on Excels part. And why doesn’t EXcel use their profits to start burying powerlines! We understand being proactive about possible damage and the threat of fire, as we were one of the very few houses in our neighborhood that survived the Marshall fire and were out of our house for 8 months going thru remediation. But this was a fiasco! The communication was horrible. No way to run a company! All customers deserve better-and esp the ones with medical needs, small kids, businesses- - really sad. ☹️
