Poor Communication and Execution
We saw the precautionary measure and that Xcel would be holding a press conference. A link was provided by all the news channels on Saturday, nothing happened when we tried the link for live stream of the press conference. Our Excel account was up to date, did not receive any notifications. Filed our outage Sunday morning at 2:00am. Continued to watch the outage map which included terrible information for those affected. While we are close to the Marshall Fire location we apparently were not part of the 55,000. Called the 800 customer service number multiple times with no updates available. Finally Sunday evening was able to speak to an Xcel? live person who was helpful however not able to provide any status on estimated repairs. Monday morning still without power and checked the site again our address showed no outage which was not true and promptly updated. While we understand the action taken, it was poorly communicated and executed. Our past experience twice with outages lasting 7 and 10 days, Xcel stated they would reimburse and did not because the issue was not an "act of god" but an equipment failure of theirs that we had to endure and bare the expenses. PUC investigated and they were fined but nothing else happened. Get a generator or home generator to run the essentials because they take no responsibility you are on your own. This was no doubt a bad storm but we did not have these issues with 110 mph experienced in NW Jefferson County in the past.
