No electricity equals no oxygen

Many people were unable to run their oxygen concentrators due to power outages in their area. I am an RN Case Manager in a Level I trauma center in the Denver area. We had numerous patients brought in by EMS because of hypoxia and other worsening conditions due to lack of oxygen (many of which ended up in ICU). Many patients tell me that they did not know that there was to be a forced power outage. This lack of communication prohibited people who rely on oxygen concentrators from reaching their oxygen providers in time to have oxygen tanks delivered. Most of this demographic do not use social media so they were unaware of the posts warning of the forced power outage. They also claim that they never saw any public service announcements of the forced outage on TV. I'm very angry at the way this was handled and feel it was unnecessary. Because of the Marshall fire that most believe was the fault of Xcel, we are now to have forced power outages every time there are high winds? It's absurd. This is Colorado, expect high winds at times! Do not cut power! Xcel should not have the right to cut power to thousands and thousands of homes just to retain a profit.
