When Will The Task Force Meet and How Will The Task Force Meet?

The Metropolitan District Task Force has scheduled six (6) meetings.  Each meeting will be held by way of a Zoom webinar and these meetings are open to the public. You may register to attend the meetings by reviewing the "Key Dates" section of this website. In addition, the meetings will be live-streamed on the Division of Real Estate's YouTube Channel.
When available, Agendas for each meeting will be made available by reviewing the "Key Dates" section of this website.

Who Should Participate And/Or Provide Feedback?

The Task Force wants to hear from anyone who has interacted with a Metropolitan District in Colorado. Homeowners, prospective homeowners, tenants, and people who work in the boundaries of a metropolitan district are welcome, in addition to board members, professionals, and others working with or within a metropolitan district.

    What Are Metropolitan Districts?

Special Districts (also referred to as Metropolitan Districts) in Colorado are local governments in Colorado. Stated another way, special districts are political subdivisions of the state, which make up a third level of government in the United States (the federal and state governments are the other two levels). Local governments include counties, municipalities (cities and towns), school districts, and other types of government entities such as "authorities" and "special districts."
Colorado law limits the types of services that county governments can provide to residents. Districts are created to fill the gaps that may exist in the services counties provide and the services the residents may desire. The majority of districts draw their boundaries in unincorporated county land, but residents of a municipality may be included in one or more districts.
For more information on Special Districts, you can contact the Department of Local Affairs-Local Governments Division at (303) 864-7720 or visit them on the web at https://cdola.colorado.gov/special-districts.
