Not all HOA's are the same
HOA's manage different types of property. Some are single family homes, some are townhouses, some are condominiums. Legislation should not broadly legislate all HOA's but should specify which entities to which they apply and should consider the ownership. For example, regulations that say HOA's can't prevent xeriscaping or solar shouldn't apply to condos where the unit owner does not own any of the land individually nor the roofs on which the solar would be installed.

Riss Lake advocated for neighborhood continuity which is on the list of criteria with the goal to keep neighborhoods together. Riss Lake did not specify a school choice, but simply did not want to be split as it was written in the initial six scenarios.

I agree!! This is the ONLY plan that moves the same kids that were moved in the last redistricting - yet again. Yes, Riss Lake was able to stay together. But, the well established, older neighborhoods are being affected yet again. McIntyre Heights, Shelter Haven, Valley View, basically all of the small developments along Eastside Drive will be moved once again to a MS school twice the distance away, just as the kids were moved in elementary from Graden (can see it from Eastside Dr.) to Prairie Point.

Yes, agree that Monticello should also stay at English Landing for a variety of reasons that support metrics. Multiple residents of Riss Lake attended the last board meeting to express this support for Monticello as well. Hoping for a good outcome for all and communities to be able to remain together.

madmom I agree with the original posted. Riss Lake was loud in it's complaining. Riss should be going to Graden, not Monticello.
And I don't believe the original post is saying Riss is getting shiney and new, just that a small group as but the collective group has to once again make sacrifices even if they don't want to.

These maps look to keep a significant number of kids closer to their current/closer schools than the previous ones. Riss Lake would not be attending the new building. The district seems truly open to hearing any neighborhood’s feedback. Hoping for a good outcome for all.
